Does the ICT permit fit your transfer?

Your company group, your role and your history with the employer decide.

Same company group
You move from a company outside the EU to a Dutch company in the same group – and keep your employment contract with the company abroad.
Manager, specialist or trainee
Managers and specialists need a bachelor’s degree or at least 5 years of relevant experience. Trainees need a master’s degree.
Already employed
You have worked for the group for at least 3 months before the transfer.
A qualifying salary
Your salary must meet the IND income requirement. For managers and specialists this follows the highly skilled migrant amounts – in 2026 €5,942, or €4,357 under 30.

ICT or Highly Skilled Migrant?

Both are work routes. The main question: who is your employer – the company abroad or the Dutch company?

Frequently asked questions

Is the ICT permit a visa?

It is a combined work and residence permit. Most nationalities first receive an MVV – a 90-day entry visa – and then collect the residence card in the Netherlands. Some nationalities are exempt from the MVV.

Can I extend my ICT permit?

No. It ends after 3 years (1 year for trainees). Many people switch to the highly skilled migrant permit before it ends – we can plan that with you.

Can my family come with me?

Yes. Your partner and children can apply for residence with you, and your partner is allowed to work.

Can I work in other EU countries?

Yes, within your company group. Short assignments in another EU country often need only a notification; longer ones need a permit there.

ICT or Highly Skilled Migrant – which fits me?

If you stay employed by the company abroad, ICT is usually the route. If the Dutch company hires you directly, it is the highly skilled migrant permit. Book a free consultation and we will advise you.
